Lions Club

We are a small and friendly Lions Club, members of which, with partners, meet for dinner on 2 nd Wednesday of each month, except in January, when we try to have a more informal gathering.

Our meeting place is the Settlers Hall in Omokoroa Road. Our caterers are first class and we have a happy evening with a speaker or entertainment.

We have our business meeting on 4 th Tuesday of each month, where our Board discusses our projects, our financial situation in regard to requests for donations and sponsorship and other club matters.

We encourage the youth in our area to apply for our 2 annual scholarships, provided to tertiary students after the first year at University or other tertiary institutions.

We also can help find sponsorship for young people wanting to do activities like Spirit of Adventure, Outward Bound or Sir Edmund Hillary awards through Lions charity Heads Up 4 Kids.

Our projects are based in or around the peninsular. We have a large selection of medical equipment available for all to use. All we ask is a donation for its use. Contact Mary on 548 1600.

We also monitor the Green Waste operation for the WBOPDC and payment for our time supports our community donations.

We run a monthly market at Western Ave carpark on 2 nd Sunday of each month ( weather permitting!!).

We also collect:

  • Old spectacles
  • Wine caps and can tabs
  • Foreign currencies and outdated NZ coins and notes
